Height: 5-7 A few years ago, Lynn Ott didn't ski and didn't snowboard; then she took a ski class in college and when some of her friends decided to try snowboarding, she veered that way. Now, she paves roads for a contractor in summer so she can ride all winter, rode in the '96 World Championships, and hopes to be in the '98 Olympics.
Comment:"Last year was an adjustment year. I'd never traveled to Europe and being in Europe isn't the same as having the hometown support when you're competing in the Northwest [Snowboard] Series. This year, I hope to pour it on a bit." Start-up: A recreational skier, Ott tried snowboarding at the urging of a college friend. She not only liked it, she moved to Bend so she could get more serious about riding. First year: She improved all season, qualifying for the Worlds and riding her best in the last month of the season. About that roller:"I pave roads during the offseason. I work for a private contractor and this was my second season running the finish roller. I was a landscape foreman- anything to be outside- and I met these guys who'd be paving roads near where I'd be landscaping, so I told 'em I'd like to do it the next year."
