Height: 5-11 Ex-alpine racer Dustin Del Giudice (del JOO-dih-see), burned out on ski racing, switched to snowboarding as the Nineties started. Good move. Last winter, his first full season on the World Cup circuit, DelGiudice had some problems with consistency but still bagged another top-5 result and reached his first World Championships. If he starts to day-dream, Del Giudice gets a quick reminder about paying attention. It happens like that when Dad's a coach.
Comment: "It's kind of weird having my dad as coach. But he really has a good eye for what we're doing wrong when we're working on a trick." Start-up: A promising alpine racer, he competed until his early teens. "I didn't like the way ski racing was then: every time I went, I wanted to be doing something else, so I quit skiing and started snowboarding." Love the 'pipe: "I tried gates for a few years ... but it seemed like gates was too much like ski racing, so now I just focus on 'pipe." Mountain child: Enjoys fly fishing, hiking, hunting And painting: "I work with acrylics. I wanted to be an architect when I was a kid. Maybe I'll go back to school to learn about art and how to do it more proficiently." (Working with Dad, he also learned to weld.) And pasta: If he can't get pasta, he'll go for Mom's tuna casserole.
