Freedom

Higher Ground Productions
Running Time:
35 minutes

A new film by Jorli Ricker and Jacques Roiseux bring us just where you'd expect with names like that...Canada. We begin at Blackcomb with Marcus Egge, Jason McAllister, Jason Chatfield and Derek Heidt busting inverted 9s.

These sequences slowly segue into smoking sleds and some inside "cabin fever" joke that should have stayed on the cutting room floor. Thankfully Matt Domonski gets things regroovitated with some Greyboy Allstars. The blue filters and intermission that follow the flow worked for me; it's a strange way to break up the monotony, but it's different and sort of intriguing.

"This slowly introduces us to smoking sleds and some inside "cabin fever" joke that should have stayed on the cutting room floor..."

We later get proof that snowmoblies suck and then the apex — when the big guns of trench warfare are unleashed. Trevor Andrew and Daniel Franck are in fine form. We also see a fine example of why a helmet can be a good thing.

We knew it was coming. The director can act. Jorli steps in front of the camera to impress for an instant before he shadows himself by Mr. Michalchuk's presence.

India segments are introduced by The Pharaoh's soul sounds and nicely ascend while the music descends. There's some fine editing here.

Snowmobiles 101 is comical, but frustrating and ultimately unworthy. Freedom flows well, see it, be it.
