Hi, it's Ed Viesturs reporting, it's April 10th, once again from the village of Nyalam.

We're standing outside, it's snowing here. Very typical weather pattern that we're in now. It seems to start snowing in the afternoons and then in the evening it clears off and then it's bright and sunny in the morning and then once again the afternoon clouds start to build. So nothing major, no major storms, just very typical afternoon cloud build-up and the light snow flurries.

Today Veikka and I did the same old deal, we hiked up a different valley today. We hiked up the valley which is the approach that takes you into the south face of Shishapangma. We didn't go all the way to the south face of Shishapangma, but took a little walk to get some exercise and once again to get a little bit of altitude for acclimatization.

All of our equipment went to Base Camp today as well as our cook, Dorje, and his kitchen boy. We will then go tomorrow to Base Camp and there we'll stay for a couple days and after that our yaks will arrive and they will then walk with us with and our gear to our Base Camp, which will be at about 18,000 feet.

So just kind of hanging out here at Nyalam, not really much other to do here than walk around, get some fresh air and spend the afternoon doing a little bit of reading and a little bit of writing. I'll give a call again tomorrow after we reach the end of the road, which the Chinese call Base Camp, but we're just going to be there for a little bit, and then we'll move on with the yaks and establish our Base Camp higher on up the mountain.

So that's it for now, Ed Viesturs signing off for MountainZone.com.
