Viesturs
Hi, it's Ed Viesturs reporting from Kathmandu, it's Friday April 6th.

We're just about ready to pack all of our gear, finally. Dorje is coming in about ½ hour to grab all of our duffels and loading it up into the truck, which will then come with us tomorrow as we get to the border of Nepal and Tibet.

Leaving tomorrow morning we plan to get out of here around 6:30am. It will be a long drive to the border where we'll cross the Sun Kosi river and that is crossed by a bridge called the Friendship bridge, where the road then connects Tibet with Nepal. We'll spend the first night in the town of Zhangmu and that's at an altitude of about 7500feet and then on Sunday we'll drive to Nyalam, a village in Tibet at about 12,300feet. We'll plan to spend two full days there on the way up simply to acclimatize.

Afeeter that, on the next day, we'll then drive to Base Camp, which is at 15,400 feet, and we'll spend two days there also acclimatizing. Then the yaks will arrive and we'll take a one-day walk from Base Camp to Advanced Base Camp, which is then placed at about 17,000 feet.

So, that's the itinerary for the next week or so. I'll call again when we're on the road. So for now, thanks for checking in once again on Mountain Zone. Ed Viesturs signing out.
