'99-'00 US Snowboard Grandprix Mammoth Mt., CA: Dec 10-12, 1999 Breckenridge, CO: Jan 7-9, 2000 Northstar@Tahoe, CA: Feb 10-13, 2000
Grand Prix Wrapped up in Snow and Rain
Shannon Dunn dominated all three US Grand Prix halfpipe events, and took home a combined $30,000 for her efforts. Tara Dakides made a strong statement, as well, winning her second big air on Saturday. Though the weather turned downright nasty, Jason Brown and Kate Fletcher finished Prix #3 on Sunday with snowboardcross victories.
Kingwill and Dunn Do-Over
In super G, Christopher Klug took revenge on the terrain where he screwed up his knee last year, and Rosey Fletcher won it for the women. Pipe veterans Rob Kingwill and Shannon Dunn won Grand Prix #1 in Mammoth and they weren't about to step off the podium here in Breckenridge.
Kingwill Pulls a Tear-Jerking 900
From Mammoth Mountain, CA., Olympian Shannon Dunn won the women's halfpipe, while Sondra Van Ert and Ian Price were the speediest in the super G. Rob Kingwill pulled a tear-jerking 900 for his halfpipe win. "I was just going for it," he said. "I was either gonna crash or win this thing
I had nothing to lose."
