Career Highlights *** 2005 was...a very special year for me, the birth of my son and the great contest run I had was pretty hard to top. The best thing about being pro is...making up my own schedule everyday, and getting to ride whenever I want. Competition is about...the titles. It’s about having the chance to say, "I’m the best at what I do." I’m the best in my sport at this moment in time. I am the Dew Cup champion. That carries more weight than any check will. When I won my first contest (at 16)...the small marble trophy I was awarded felt like a bar of gold. It was a landmark in my life. I had unknowingly become a contest rider and for years after won and placed well in contests, both in England and in Europe. Life was great. My biggest accomplishment is...quitting my job and riding my bike for a living.
The thing that impresses me is...when someone's not afraid to let their own style be shown, even if it is to the ridicule of others. Being able to break away from the norm is always impressive. Big tricks will always wow the crowds and riders and they rightfully should, but for me there's a lot more to it than that. I tell kids...never give up. My parents weren’t the most supportive in later years, but it was something I wanted to do and I never gave it up, not for anybody regardless of what price I paid. I wanted to do it and it’s something that made me an individual and made me happy and it gave me a great sense of achievement in everything I did. It’s something that I felt that was right for me so I never gave up. Source: lgactionsports.com, bmxonline.com, lat34.com, sobe.com, woodwardcamp.com, 23mag.com
