 Since 1981, the International Snow Leopard Trust, a small but dedicated organization of scientists and concerned individuals, has been working to conserve snow leopards and their fragile habitats. Based in Seattle, the ISLT is apolitical and takes a balanced approach to conservation that crosses the borders of 12 countries and takes into consideration the needs of the people and the environment in Central Asia. The ISLT develops educational programs for local people and then helps them devise ways to support their communities without degrading the environment.
