Ciao Mountain Zone!!!!

Here is Simone Moro again. Don't worry, I am in life and my frostbit fingers are doing well. In fact, doctor Picchi (the best Italian doctor specializing in frostbite problems) told me that I will be okay within two months, "without lose any part of my body." But it is difficult to wait so long for me because I already want to start to rock climb and train!

In the meantime, I started to work on my future plans: (slide show, visit sponsor, organizing trekking in Tien Shan and Pamir for the next summer and in Himalaya for the autumn.) I also started to think about my next expedition, but I have so many project and so few money...we will see!

The trekking from Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu, I did after the Everest summit had been okay. In any case it had been difficult because I walked with sandals, (I was lame for the frostbite in the right foot.) I needed two days to arrive to Syangboche from where I took one helicopter to arrive in Kathmandu.

As I told in my report from Base Camp, I'm satisfied about my climb, but not completely. I resisted five days the oxygen over 8000 meters (I believe it is one of the longest performances so high) and this is the demonstration that we have power to do the traverse.

I'm not happy to have used oxygen (as I did) for six hours (in the tent at South Col until 8400 meters.) From that point I closed the oxygen because my throat was too dry and I decided to continue without and I climbed Everest from 8400 meters to the summit and back without artificial oxygen. It was better when I climbed completely without!

I will try again the traverse, Everest-Lhotse and I hope (and believe) that I will do without that damned gas.

Now I want to thank you, Dan Morrison for the big help who gave me during all the expedition, all the team of the expedition, led by Robert Link who support me in any moment. I want also, and especially, to thank Mountain Zone, Quokka and all the friends who follow me during the two months of my bad luck on Everest. I reached the summit also for all of you, even if destiny tried to stop me. Sometime the personal determination is more strong than the bad luck, and win!

This is the only message that I can leave you and I hope that it can be helpful to you. I tell to all of you goodbye. It means that we can meet again for my next adventure.
