In a private memorial service held on Sunday, October 17, friends, family and climbing partners convened outside Bozeman, Montana, to pay tribute to Alex Lowe. Lowe's widow, Jennifer, and their three boys, Sam, Isaac and Max, spoke briefly to those assembled. Other speakers included Gordon Wiltsie, Jon Krakauer, Jack Tackle, Steve Swenson, Conrad Anker and Andrew McLean. Other members of the Shishapangma expedition, recently returned from Kathmandu (with the exception of Hans Saari, who remains in Thailand), were in attendance.
