Fifty Two and Over The Hill Frenchman Summits Gasherbrum II Hushe Valley, Pakistan August 22, 1999
An article by Asem Mustafa Awan in Pakistan's Nation newspaper confirms that 52-year-old French alpinsist, Hugues D'Aubare, reached the summit of Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters) on August 3rd. D'Aubare lead the way for other summiters Maryse Guillemette, Michael Argeles, and Jean Claude Stalla. D'Aubare's comment on GII in the Nation was, "We had no problems at all, but the weather never favored us."
