Hi it's Ed Viesturs reporting on The Mountain Zone. It's Monday, April 19th, and guess what, we're still at Camp I. Last night was a bit blustery and windy here at Camp I, and also the upper part of the mountain was very, very windy. As we can see today, all of the exposed rock faces on the upper part of the mountain have been completely cleared of any snow. So when we got up this morning at 4:00, heard the wind raging, we decided to give it one more day hoping that it would calm down over the next couple a days. We don't know whether a cold front has moved in, or the jet stream has shifted, but if we were to go up higher, we would have just been blasted by the wind.

So as a result we are spending a very, very boring day here at Camp I. We didn't bring any books up, because they are too heavy of course. So we're just kinda whiling away the hours, but tomorrow we do plan to go up to Camp II. We'll get up at 4:00 in the morning and hopefully be out of here by 5:00 in the morning and make the ascent to Camp II and see how things progress from there.

So one day delay. We're looking at hopefully working our way up the mountain and perhaps getting to the summit on the 22nd. Thanks for listening, Ed Viesturs signing out.
