Hello, it's Ed Viesturs reporting on The Mountain Zone. It's Monday evening and we are now in the village of Philim. It was a quite unventful helicopter ride this morning, uneventful being the key word. We flew up in an old Russian MI-17 and we plan to start our trek toward Manaslu Base Camp tomorrow. According to porters and everybody, it will take us five or six days from here until we reach Base Camp.

Veikka and I are feeling fine, ready to get on the trail. It's a beautiful part of the country here; there's no commercial development whatsoever. They rarely see Westerners in this part of Nepal, so it's kind of like being in Nepal probably how it was 40, 50, 60 years ago. It's quite an adventure. So I'll report again tomorrow after our first day on the walk. Everything's going quite well and we'll talk to you again soon. Thanks a lot.
