NEPAL TIME: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hey everybody, we're still in Kathmandu. It's the evening of March 26th, we're actually about 14 hours ahead on the clock, about a half day ahead. This is our second full day in Kathmandu. We met once again with our trekking agency and we also met the German team who we're sharing a permit with. They're having some difficulty with getting their gear which they shipped via cargo into Kathmandu and they still have to clear it through customs so that's causing a bit of a delay, but were still hoping to fly out of here on Monday with helicopter to a village called Sama, which is at about 10,000 feet and then Veikka and I plan to spend two or three days acclimatizing, doing day hikes out of that village and then, once acclimatized there, we'll take two days of trekking [inaudible]. Tomorrow is Saturday and Saturday in Nepal is like our Sunday in the US so nothing really gets done. Hopefully, like I said, Monday will be the day when we go. But when you come to Nepal, you kind of do what has to be done and then you wait until they get their things done and sometimes it takes a little longer than you had planned, but you go with the flow. Veikka and I are both well. The weather here is extremely nice, very dry. Everywhere here they're praying for rain, simply because the smog and the pollution in Kathmandu is a bit overwhelming at times. But we'll have to see what the conditions are in the mountains. I think it's going to be quite good for climbing; relatively safe as far as avalanche conditions are concerned, but probably quite dry and maybe a little bit icier than normal but we'll see how it goes when we get there. Everything's good, we'll check in again probably tomorrow or the next day. Bye.
