Hi, this is Ed Viesturs reporting on the Mountain Zone from Annapurna north side Base Camp. It's the evening of April 9. We had a pretty good day today, a combination of a little bit of a rest and also some work. We slept in until about 7:30, had a nice leisurely breakfast; sun hit the camp about a quarter to 8. And then we loaded up some gear and at 10am we left Base Camp just to wander up along the moraine to see if we couldn't establish and find a route on the dry moraine part of the glacier, as we make somewhat of a rising, C-shaped traverse toward the foot of the climb. We did that; we dumped some gear at the base of some ledges, which Veikka then snooped around on. He climbed up fairly high to find the way that will then put us high above the icefall on the glacier which we can completely avoid by climbing on these rocky ledges and terraces and that...those then will eventually lead us to Camp I. So tomorrow the plan is to get up very early, leave Base Camp here with some more equipment, and go back to our cache at the foot of the rocky ledges, load up what we have there and hopefully climb the rocky ledges and find our way to Camp I, where we'll dump our gear and return back to Base Camp tomorrow, sometime in the afternoon. And if all goes well, the following day, we'll climb back up to Camp I and plan on spending a few days there, acclimatizing and also starting to work on the route on the glacier towards Camp II. So everything's going well, the weather's good so we're going to keep the ball rolling. We're feeling healthy, we're having a lot of fun, things are going good and not much else to report for now. So I'll call in again tomorrow evening after we've made our carry, hopefully successfully, to Camp I. That's it for now, Ed Viesturs signing out from Annapurna Base Camp.
