Winston Goodbody |
Winston "Win" Goodbody, 33, is from New Jersey and grew up skiing at New England
resorts. In 1995, after his first visit to the western United States, Win quit his
job in New York City and moved to Utah to spend a winter learning how to
backcountry ski. By the next spring, he was hooked.
Win's focus turned to long distance ski touring in 1997 when he completed a
19-day traverse of Wyoming's Wind River Range. In 1999, he spent five
months on a series of one and two week ski trips around Greater Yellowstone,
visiting the Wind River, Absaroka, Teton, and Gros Ventre Ranges. That
winter's highlight, among others, was seeing wolves in Yellowstone National
Park.
In the Wind River Range, Win has skied the South Couloir on Fremont, a
variation of the Gooseneck Glacier Route on Gannett, and the Northwest
Couloir on Ellingwood. In the Tetons, he has skied the Skillet Glacier Route
on Mt. Moran and the Middle Teton's Southwest Couloir.
In between trips, Win is a database developer and computer programmer, most
recently in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Williams College in 1990 with a
degree in political science.
