Mojca Suhadolc was not the first racer from her team to win a Super-G when she won her very first World Cup race at Lake Louise in November 1999- in fact she's the third to achieve this performance after Katja Koren and Alenka Dovzan in the early 1990's. But in her 8th World Cup season, she became the first Slovenian to clinch a place on the podium in this specialty at the award ceremony durinb the Finals at Bormio. Mojca was finally 3rd behind Austria's Renate Goetschl and Canada's Mélanie Turgeon and reached a career best 16th position in the Overall classification. Quite a comeback for that athlete who was only 59th, 53rd and 48th in the previous seasons in the final World Cup standings.

She struggled for a long time after bursting onto scene in December 1995 at Val d'Isère when she was 2nd in a GS and 3rd in a Super-G in two consecutive days. An outstanding GS skier in the past, Mojca was slowed down afterwards by injuries and health problems and lost much ground on her rivals.

In 1993, after being 9th in GS at the FIS World's in Morioka, the sensitive Slovenian already tore her right anterior cruciate ligament in a training accident in Chile. She missed the entire 1993/94 season including the Lillehammer Games where her team clinched its first Olympic medals. From 1996 to 1999, she focused on the speed events, but only skied twice among the top-10 - both times at Lake Louise where she was 8th in 1997 and 7th in 1998. In those years, she was often plagued with lack of concentration during her races. In fact, in 1997, she skied out in Sestriere in both GS and Super-G and she was only 24th in Super-G at Nagano in 1998.

During her 1999/ 2000 season, Mojca was again pretty consistent with five top-6 finishes. She made also some progress in downhill, conquering an excellent 3rd place at Cortina d'Ampezzo - equalling the best Slovenian performance of her good friend Spela Bracun, 3rd at St Moritz in December.

Both colleagues aim now to confirm these great results after switching to Atomic in the past summer.
