Steve Fisher surfs
rapid 12b

Wave surfing, the center of whitewater freestyle, was held at a rapid called 12b. The feature is formed as the river drops and pinches through a constriction in the river. As the river levels fall in October the rapid begins to build in height until it spills back on itself forming a five-foot wall of breaking foam bordered by two green tongues. In each heat every competitor surfed the wave trying to achieve a good score by the difficulty, style and variety of moves they performed.
