20 SEP 2000 - BASE CAMP
We've just returned from the mountain having spent the last two nights at 6400 meters. We've reached 6900 meters just below Camp 2, where we cached our Camp 2 tents, stoves etc.. Our goal was to establish Camp 2, but Yang came down with snowblindness, forcing a hasty descent.
Overall, our progress on the mountain is pretty good. Jon Arnold, Tim Bolter, Phil Crampton, Daniel Mazur, and Rod Richardson will be moving up tomorrow to try to establish Camp 2.
The views from Camp I (6400 meters) are amazing. Looking out at the route it is difficult not to enjoy this place on the Tibet/Nepal border.
All the best from Tibet.
